Mafalda Gomes Santos

Profile

Mafalda Gomes Santos earned a Masters degree in Psychology, with expertise in Educational and Human Development Psychology from Faculty of Education and Psychology at the Catholic Portuguese University – Porto. She’s also post graduated in Human Rights. Her researches domains in protection of victims’ rights, integration of refugees in Portugal, and understanding which psychological processes lead to altruistic and heroic behavior – to combat the bystander effect in people’s actions. She’s part of the responsible team for the implementation in Portugal of the intervention program Heroic Imagination Project, which aims to foster prosocial attitudes and behaviour through education for daily heroism. At the moment, Mafalda is doing research work on rights of the victims of crime in Portugal.
