Vânia Sousa Lima holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Minho, July 2009, with the thesis entitled "Vinculação, Representação da Relação Íntima e Interacção Diádica em Adultos".

She has been developing research in the area of intimate relationships, assessment of psychopathology and psychotherapeutic intervention. She is psychologist at Clínica Universitária de Psicologia (CUP), where she works with adults, couples and families.

She is an Assistant Professor in the Faculdade de Educação e Psicologia at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and coordinates the area of International Relations of the faculty.
